What is Desktop Environment in linux?

In computing, DE(Desktop Environment) is an implementation of the desktop metaphor made of bundle of programs running on a top of a computer operating system, which share a common graphical user interface (GUI), Sometimes describe as a graphical shell.
A Desktop Environment typically consist of icon's, windows, toolbars, wallpapers, folders, and desktop widgets, login screen , mouse pointer, all the staff. And it's called a Graphical User Interface (GUI).
